Scouts’ Davis Keppley is Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week
Davis Keppley was planning to pass on football this year. He didn’t enjoy his experience during a painful 2-8 season as a junior. His teammates and coaches talked him out of it just before practice began in August.
He thanked them Friday with what his coach called one of the greatest two-way performances in Conrad Weiser history.
Keppley, starting at wide receiver for the first time this season, had six catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns to earn Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week for the first time.
He also led the defense with seven tackles.
“Hands down one of the most incredible games we’ve ever had at Weiser,” said long-time Scouts coach Alan Moyer.
Keppley’s 11-yard TD reception with nine minutes left gave the unbeaten Scouts the lead in a 24-21 win over Cocalico that clinched the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 championship. Earlier in the half he collected a 27-yard strike from Donovan Gingrich to pull the Scouts within 21-17; they had trailed 21-3 in the first half.
Keppley had some remarkable catches, including a back shoulder one-handed catch along the sideline.

Making it all the more remarkable is the fact that Keppley hadn’t played much receiver this season because Moyer wanted to keep him fresh on defense, where he leads the team in tackles from his spot at linebacker. He had just one reception before Friday.
When all-league receiver Evan Rittle was lost for the season with a Week 8 injury Keppley was needed at wide receiver full-time. And with Cocalico concentrating on the other wideout, Dylan Parr, Keppley became Gingrich’s feature target.
“We saw some things, and we felt there were some match-ups we liked with Keppley,” Moyer said. “I’ll tell you what, the kid catches the ball. That one-handed catch, it was incredible. But he does these things in practice.”
Keppley is thrilled he decided to return to football.
“I didn’t know what to expect, to be honest,” he said earlier this season. “It’s a different feel after going through 2-8; it’s a better feeling. After all the hard work we put in, it’s finally starting to pay off. I’m enjoying the time that I have with the guys. I’m not worrying about losing as much and I’m just going out and playing.”
Keppley is the first Conrad Weiser player to earn Offensive Player of the Week this season, and the first since Logan Klitsch in 2021.
