Rob Wildasin, who took Cedar Crest to the postseason four times in his 10 seasons as head football coach, announced his resignation today on Twitter.
“I am resigning with tremendous pride in what was accomplished, and with the program in great shape for future seasons,” Wildasin wrote on the heels of the Falcons’ 8-3 season, matching their best record of the last decade.

Wildasin took over a program that had experienced eight straight losing season and slowly made the Falcons competitive, winning three, five and finally six games in his third season.
In his fourth year they went 8-3 and made the District 3 playoffs.
“We built a tough and respectable 6A program that went from a 27 percent winning percentage to a 54 percent winning percentage,” Wildasin wrote.
“Now it’s time for someone else to lead the team. Being head coach at Cedar Crest was an experience of a lifetime. It was an awesome ride.”
Wildasin is the fifth coach in the Lancaster-Lebanon League to resign since the end of the season, following Rick Keely at Berks Catholic, Jeff Lang at Gov. Mifflin, John Lorchak at Muhlenberg and Frank Isenberg at Lebanon.
In his post, Wildasin thanked his coaching staff, players, parents, the media, the Cedar Crest student body and his family for their support; there was no mention of the school administration.
Cedar Crest struggled to compete with the more established programs at Wilson and Manheim Township. In fact, before the season he took a veiled swipe at those two schools, hinting that they recruit players.
Wildasin resigns with a 54-46 record over 10 seasons.
The Falcons lost at Harrisburg 54-28 in the opening round of the District 3 Class 6A playoffs this season.
