Twin Valley head coach Brett Myers has a saying that he learned from his high school football coach and mentor at Middletown, Dennis Iezzi.

The saying goes, “We want our players to be Clark Kent in the hallways and Superman on the field.”

There were plenty of red capes to go around for the Raiders Friday night and little to no kryptonite offered by Conrad Weiser.  The Raiders dominated the Scouts from start to finish in a 49-0 non-league victory in Robesonia.

Twin Valley (3-0) outgained Conrad Weiser (0-3) 449-173.  Quarterback Evan Myers led the way by throwing for 168 yards and two touchdowns and running for a touchdown.

Ean Winchester produced a Mike Alstott-like performance, rushing for 59 yards and two touchdowns, while providing crushing lead blocks to spearhead the Raiders’ 281-yard rushing attack.

Evan Myers

“When I run behind him, I can’t even see the guy he’s blocking, “ said Evan Myers.  “He is a great athlete and does an excellent job of blocking.

“As does our offensive line. Our team works so hard in practice and pushes ourselves to get better each day.”

Leading rushers Evan Johnson and Drew Engle combined for 120 rushing yards and reserve running back Ryan Rementer added 91.

The receivers also contributed to another Superhero-like offensive performance.  Owen Rhoads and Benjamin Grundy combined for 143 receiving yards.

The Raiders seem to be firing on all cylinders which is quite impressive considering the complexity of Myers’ modern, fast-paced, Wing-T offense that he brought with him from Middletown last year when he became head coach.

The Raiders came into Friday’s game ranked No. 1 in the league in total offense after amassing 1,122 yards in two games.

“We have very good assistant coaches,” said Brett Myers. “We also have very intelligent players.  If we didn’t have both of those things, we would not be able to be as successful and diverse as we have been offensively in just Season 2.”

Quarterback Evan Myers, Brett’s son, echoed those sentiments.

“We love to play up-tempo,” he said. “It is so much fun.  We credit all of our guys.  Our receivers do the same thing at the same speed whether it is a run or a pass.  We practice hard and pay attention to detail.”

The Raiders were equally dominant on the defensive side.  They held the Scouts to 173 yards of total offense.   Senior defensive end Kyle Kline scooped up a fumble and returned it 42 yards for a second quarter touchdown.  Freshman linebacker Lucas Myers had some key tackles for the Raiders as well.

For Conrad Weiser, quarterback Donovan Gingrich lead the way, throwing for 97 yards and rushing for 26 yards.
