Pennsylvania beaten in Big 33 Classic despite long field goal in OT

Hempfield placekicker Brady Biscoe’s 51-yard field goal in overtime kept Pennsylvania’s hopes alive Sunday in the 69th annual Big 33 Classic.

That only delayed the outcome, as Maryland got a touchdown in the second overtime for an 18-10 victory in a defensive battle at Chapman Field in Mechanicsburg.

The game was tied 7-7 at the end of regulation. It was the first Big 33 game to go to double overtime since 2014.

After the teams traded field goals in the first overtime, Maryland took the lead for good when Arundel High’s Jonathan Coleman scored on a 2-yard, fourth-down touchdown run. Kaden Foster of Mervo High followed with a two-point conversion run for an eight-point lead.

Pennsylvania, starting at the 25, went four-and-out in the second overtime, with a 1-yard loss on a run and three incomplete passes.

For the third straight year no Berks County player was selected for the game.

The Lancaster-Lebanon League was represented by quarterback Jack Kenneff and wide receiver Daryus Dixon of Manheim Township, Briscoe, and assistant coach Matt Gingrich of Annville-Cleona.

Aliquippa defensive tackle Justus Walker was named the team MVP for Pennsylvania.

The Keystoners nearly had a game-savubg goal line stand in the second overtime. Maryland had first-and-goal at the 3 but gained just 1 yard on its first three plays. Coleman broke through on fourth down.

Pennsylvania scored the only points of the first half when Blake Turner caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Kenneff.

The Maryland defense stuffed Pennsylvania the rest of the way. Pennsylvania finished with 32 rushing yards on 24 carries and 122 total yards on 50 total plays.

The only other points in regulation came when Maryland’s Michael Robinson, of Edgewood High School, caught a 21-yard pass from Blake Pasik for a touchdown with 2:12 remaining. Robinson was named Maryland MVP.

Kenneff completed 7-of-14 passes for 86 yards.

Maryland quarterback Blake Pasik, of Northern High School, completed 14-of-29 passes for 151 yards. He also rushed for a team-high 55 yards. Kareem Fisher of St. Vincent Pallotti High, had four catches for 49 yards.

Maryland more than doubled Pennsylvania’s offensive output with 272 yards, and 19 first downs (to 10 by the Keystoners). Each team committed one turnover.

Maryland won 42-21 in 2025, ending Pennsylvania’s five-game winning streak.

Pennsylvania 15-6 all-time against Maryland.
The last Berks players to take part in the game were Cam Jones of Wilson and Anthony Caccese of Exeter, in 2023.

The top Berks senior in 2025 was MikeDragoSports.com Player of the Year Drew Engle of Twin Valley. He is committed to play lacrosse at the United State Military Academy.

Biscoe kicked four field goals as a senior and was an all-league pick.

Known as the “Super Bowl of High School Football,” this annual all-star game features the premier high school football talent from Pennsylvania and Maryland. The Big 33 has had at one alumnus present in every Super Bowl.
