LITTLESTOWN — Penn Manor’s special teams units were just that Thursday night: special.
Jalen Dupree ignited the Comets on the opening kickoff, taking it 75 yards for a touchdown.

It was the perfect start to a night where Penn Manor beat Littlestown 39-6 in non-league play under the crisp fall sky.
“After he got that first kick return, everybody was hyped,” said Penn Manor running back Randy Guthrie, who scored four touchdowns.
Comets coach Jordan Clark challenged his team to make something happen on special teams.
“Before the game, Coach wanted us to get a special teams touchdown,” said Guthrie.
What Clark got wasn’t just one touchdown by special teams, but two.
Guthrie added a 72-yard punt return for a touchdown that gave Penn Manor a 25-6 lead at halftime.
The Comets (2-5) won the trench game, making it tough sledding for the Thunderbolts (3-4) on offense.
“We just really felt that we had the advantage in the trenches,” said Clark. “We wanted to expose that today.”
Winning the war of attrition at the line also allowed Guthrie to take over Thursday night’s game.
He also had 153 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries.
“We started the game a little slow,” said Guthrie. “Everybody needed to pick it up, and we did.”
Guthrie was shifty, tough and a key reason for Penn Manor’s victory.
“Yes, we did our job down here like we were supposed to do,” Clark said. “But I’m really intrigued to see what kind of football team that we have and we’re going to have.”
Penn Manor will carry good mojo into Week 8 when it travels to Wilson for a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 matchup.
