More national honors for Conrad Weiser grad Adam Kase

Six weeks after Kutztown University’s final game Adam Kase continues receive accolades.

The Conrad Weiser grad, along with teammate Tyler Whary, has been named an honorable mention selection on the Don Hansen Division II All-America team.

Kase is a senior offensive lineman for the Golden Bears.

The Don Hansen team, selected by the Don Hansen Football Committee, carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen.

He started and published Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.

Kase and Whary are first-time honorees after helping lead the Golden Bears to a program-record 12 victories, PSAC East and league championships, the program’s firstr Super Region 1 title and a spot in the national semifinals.

Kase was a PSAC East first-team and D2CCA All-Super Region 1 second-team pick. He has started 24 games over the last two seasons, including all 15 this season.

Kase helped Kutztown rank second in the PSAC and 11th nationally in fewest tackles for loss allowed (4.13 per game). The Golden Bears were third in the PSAC in fewest sacks allowed (1.27 per game), fourth in rushing offense (157.9 yards per game) and fourth in passing yards per completion (13.63).

Kase was an All-State pick for the Scouts in 2019 and helped them to a 9-3 record and the Berks Football League Section 1 title as a junior in 2018.

Whary, the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Year, anchored a defense that was one of the tops in the conference, region and nation. The graduate student from Hereford led KU in total tackles (89), solo tackles (46), assisted tackles (43), tackles for loss (10.0) and quarterback hurries (eight). He was also tied for second on the team in pass breakups with five.

A three-time All-PSAC East selection, Whary landed on the D2CCA All-Super Region 1 first team and CSC Division II Academic All-District team this season. The Golden Bears led the PSAC and ranked 15th in DII in scoring defense (16.7 points per game). They ranked second in the conference and top 35 nationally in total defense (294.5 yards per game) and rushing defense (105.9 yards per game).
