Section 3: Johnny Garcia runs to Back of the Year honors, 3rd straight all-league selection

2025 Berks football coverage presented by

Utilities Employees Credit Union

Johnny Garcia left a trail of fallen defenders and some impressive stats in his wake during his Solanco football career.

The tailback set a program career rushing record with more than 4,500 yards, earned All-State honors as a junior, and led the Golden Mules to an 11-2 record and the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 title.

And now this: A third straight all-league selection, along with Outstanding Back of the Year honors.

Garcia, who rushed for 1,799 yards and 24 touchdowns as a senior, is one of six Solanco players to earn first-team honors.

Warwick and Garden Spot, which finished behind the Golden Mules, each earned nine first-team spots.

Warwick’s Vinny Bagonis was named the section’s Outstanding Lineman and Defensive Lineman of the Year at Wednesday’s coach’s banquet at Mount Gretna.

Bagonis, picked as a tight end and interior lineman, is one of five two-picks, along with Garden Spot’s Gabe Martin, a quarterback and the section’s Linebacker of the Year.

Conrad Weiser’s Eugene Booth III, at interior defensive line, is one of just four repeat first-team picks. He’s joined on the first team by teammates Javien Rivera, at running back; Nate Gilfert, offensive line; and Chase Colon, defensive end.

Wide receiver Chase Adams and inside linebacker Tanner Zornek are Fleetwood’s lone first-team selections.

The teams were selected by the section’s coaches.
