Senior Keira Levengood scored a game-high 14 points and junior Isis Dojan dominated the glass as third-seeded Wilson held off seventh-seeded Reading High 37-34 in a BCIAA girls semifinal Tuesday at Santander Arena.
The Bulldogs (17-5) advance to play either top-seeded Berks Catholic or fourth-seeded Gov. Mifflin in the championship game Friday at 6 at Santander Arena.
The Red Knights (13-11) saw their season end with the loss; they did not qualify for the District 3 Tournament.
The Red Knights rallied from nine points down with 3 1/2 minutes left to make it a one-possession game. Yamilex Rodriguez and Laysha Pimental hit 3-pointers in the final minute, but Pimental missed a rushed 3-pointer at the buzzer that could’ve tied it.
Dojan finished with 11 points, 18 rebounds and seen blocked shots. Levengood had seven rebounds.
Kya Washington led Reading with 10 points; Rodriguez had nine.
The Bulldogs struggled at the outset, missing their first 12 shots and falling behind 7-1. Levengood sparked a 12-0 run that carried over into the second quarter, scoring seven points as Wilson moved out in front 13-7.
The Red Knights (13-11) didn’t score for over seven minutes of the second quarter; Yamilex Rodriguez broke the drought with a 3-pointer.
Wilson beat Reading High twice during the regular season, 53-38 on Dec. 20 and 53-35 on Jan. 27.
