Jase Ferguson, who completed over 70 percent of his passes in leading Central Clarion to its first PIAA championship game, has been named Class 2A Player of the Year by the Pennsylvania Football Writers.

He is one of seven All-State selections for Central Clarion.

Jimmy Smith, who led Troy to an unbeaten season and the program’s first PIAA title, is Coach of the Year. His team, which beat Central Clarion 25-24 in the championship game, landed eight All-State selections, more than any other team.

The All-State teams for Class 4A and Class 6A will be announced later today. Teams for 1A, 3A, and 5A were announced Friday.

Lancaster Catholic running back Brandon Way, who rushed for 1,816 yards and scored 26 touchdowns, is the lone Class 2A pick from the Lancaster-Lebanon League. Way, the Outstanding Back in Section 5, has an offer from Syracuse.

Ferguson passed for 3,482 yards and 51 touchdowns, with eight interceptions. He threw seven TDs and ran for 16 scores in five postseason games; he scored seven TDs in a 55-0 state semifinal win over South Park.
