Kutztown U moves up to No. 3 in national rankings

For the third time this season, Kutztown University has set a rogram benchmark in the national poll: The Golden Bears have moved up to No. 3 in the AFCA Division II rankings.

Kutztown achieved its first Top 5e ranking a month ago. KU spent two weeks at No. 5 before ascending to No. 4 two weeks ago. The Golden Bears are one of just three undefeated teams in the Top 10, with top-ranked Valdosta State and No. 6 Charleston.

In the D2Football.com Top 25, KU moved up one spot to No. 3.

Kutztown’s roster includes several notable Berks grads: Senior offensive lineman Adam Kase of Conrad Weiser, junior placekicker Nate Millard of Daniel Boone, junior linebacker Brandon Strausser of Gov. Mifflin, sophomore linebacker Eden Johnson, and freshman linemen Jack Dendall of Wilson and Kabine Toure of Gov. Mifflin.

The Golden Bears (6-0, 9-0) are coming off a 49-17 victory at Millersville, a season-high for points scored. Kutztown returned two interceptions for touchdowns during a 28-point first quarter and went on to wrap up its second straight PSAC East title on Saturday.

Kutztown plays its final East game Saturday as it hosts West Chester at noon at Andre Reed Stadium.
