
Eric Nickel completed 18-of-29 passes and threw for 196 yards and two TDs as Kutztown University defeated Seton Hill 14-3 Saturday in a non-conference game at Andre Reed Stadium.
Nickel threw scoring passes of 28 yards to Kaden Hastie and 7 yards to Manheim Central grad Jake Novak.
Boyertown grad Jerry Kapp had a team-high four catches, for 40 yards.
Wilson grad Mason McElroy had three catches for 23 yards.
The Golden Bears (1-0, 2-1) limited the Griffins (0-1, 2-1) to 181 total yards. They have allowed just three points in two homes games.
Gov. Mifflin grad Kam Wolfe started at linebacker for Kutztown.
Conrad Weiser grad Adam Kase started at offensive tackle for KU.
Ryan Jennings and Elij Yakpasuo had interceptions for the Golden Bears.
The win was the second in three meetings for Kutztown over Seton Hill.
Kutztown fell out of the national rankings following last week’s loss to IUP.
The Golden Bears open Pennsylvania Conference play at Shepherd next Saturday at noon.
