Kutztown University linebacker Brandon Strausser has been selected PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week after spearheading the Golden Bears’ third shutout in a 24-0 victory over Shepherd.

The Gov. Mifflin grad registered a game-high eight tackles (five solo) and returned an interception 15 yards for a game-changing touchdown for the No. 4 Golden Bears.
The redshirt junior set career-highs for total and solo tackles while collecting his first career interception. Kutztown had just taken a 7-0 lead two plays prior when Strausser stepped in front of a Lek Powell pass and took it back for a pick six.
Kutztown (5-0, 8-0) put forth another dominant performance defensively. The Maroon and Gold totaled five takeaways (four interceptions) and five sacks in recording their third shutout of the season –the first time that has happened since 1964.
KU is allowing just 6.6 points per game over eight games this season.
The Golden Bears can wrap up their second consecutive PSAC East championship and fourth in the last five seasons with a win at Millersville this Saturday. Game time is set for noon.
