Jerry Kapp, three Kutztown U teammates, honored for academic achievement
Boyertown’s Jerry Kapp and three Kutztown University teammates have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Football Team for their contributions on the field and in the classroom.
Also selected: Donny Blaine of North Pocono High School, Tyler Whary of Upper Perkiomen and Parker Zimerofsky of Pottsville.
The CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America program recognizes honorees in four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late December.

Student-athletes must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) to be nominated.
They also need to participate in at least 50% of their team’s games, have completed one full calendar year at their current institution and been on a college roster for two years.
Kapp, a graduate student and wide receiver, is one of the Golden Bears’ all-time pass-catching greats. He totaled 47 receptions for 916 yards and nine touchdowns this season, all career-highs.
A two-time All-PSAC East First Team selection, Kapp led the PSAC and ranked 20th in NCAA Division II in yards per reception (19.5). He was also top five in the conference and top 25 nationally in receiving TDs, yards and yards per game (83.3).
Among Kutztown’s all-time leaders, Kapp ranks third in receiving yards (2,190) and tied for fourth in TDs (22) in three seasons.
Kapp graduated summa cum laude with a sport management degree in May and is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration. He is a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, three-time D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award honoree and four-time KU Dean’s List student.
Blaine, a senior quarterback, threw for 1,920 yards and 15 touchdowns, and was named to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Second Team as the Golden Bears completed an 8-3 season.
The business administration (finance) major is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, two-time D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award recipient and four-time KU Dean’s List student.
Whary, a senior linebacker, had another strong season as one of Kutztown’s defensive leaders by producing 56 tackles, five tackles for loss, four sacks and two forced fumbles.
A business administration (management) major, Whary is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, 2021-22 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award recipient and three-time KU Dean’s List student.
Zimerofsky, a senior, was starting left guard the last two seasons. He earned All-PSAC East First Team honors for the first time by helping the Golden Bears rank fourth in the PSAC in rushing offense (164.6 ypg) and fifth in sacks allowed (1.45).
A business administration (accounting) major, Zimerofsky is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, two-time D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award honoree and four-time KU Dean’s List student.
