Jerry Kapp has two TD catches but Kutztown falls to IUP
Jerry Kapp had a huge day for Kutztown University, with a pair of touchdown catches, but the 18th-ranked Golden Bears saw their comeback bid fall short in a 29-26 non-conference loss Saturday against No. 15 Indiana University.

The Golden Bears (1-1) saw their 14-game road win streak snapped. It was the third-longest in NCAA Division II behind Minnesota State (19) and Ferris State (16).
Kutztown trailed 29-19 with 6:30 remaining before Kapp, a Boyertown grad, caught a 22-yard TD pass from Eric Nickel to cut the deficit to 29-26 with 3:45 remaining.
Kapp, a redshirt sophomore receiver, had six receptions for 160 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown catch early in the fourth quarter that gave Kutztown a 19-14 lead with 12:28 remaining.
Indiana scored on its next two possessions to take the lead for good.
The Golden Bears got one final possession after Kapp’s second TD but could not get past midfield.
Jordan Davis gave Kutztown the lead on an 11-yard TD run in the first quarter.
Wilson grad Mason McElroy had two catches for 30 yards for Kutztown and returned two punts.
Gov. Mifflin grad Kam Wolfe recorded six tackles for the Golden Bears.
Kutztown returns home to face Seton Hill University next Saturday at 12:05 p.m.
