Grizzly defensive effort lifts Boyertown over Methacton, 42-11

Roman Marinello scored three touchdowns and Leo Egbe rushed for 155 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns as Boyertown snapped a two-game losing streak with a 42-11 win over visiting Methacton Friday in a PAC Liberty game.

The 42 points matched a season-high for the Bears (1-2, 3-4), who beat Pottsgrove 42-35 in Week 4.

The Bears led 28-3 after three quarters.

Marinello scored on runs of 15 and 13 yards and on a 34-yard pass from Anthony Panarello.

The Bears rushed for 334 yards on 44 carries. Panarello ran for 87 on 12 carries and Marinello for 58 on six carries.

Egbe had a 79-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter.

Methacton has lost two straight after a 4-1 start. The Warriors (1-2, 4-3) have been held to one touchdown in each loss. They were able to convert just 1-of-11 third-downs, and 1-of-5 fourth downs.

The Bears recorded three sacks, two by Luke Ordway, recorded 13 tackles for loss and held Methacton to 41 rushing yards on 30 attempts.

Gavin Chamberlin had four tackles for loss for the Bears. Jason Oakes had a team-high eight stops, with two tackles for loss.

Methacton quarterback Dan Brandi completed 13-of-27passes for 166 yards. Brian Dickey caught seven of those passes for 79 yards, including a 12-yard TD in the final period.

Boyertown improved to 8-6 all-time against the Warriors.
