Diamond Credit Union Lineman of the Week
Nate Goodman doesn’t always see those stirring touchdown runs teammate Nick Singleton makes; he’s usually wrestling with a defensive end or linebacker, or on the ground after making a block.
He can tell by the roar of the crowd just how good a job he did springing a block for one of the nation’s best running backs.
Goodman heard plenty of oohs and aahs Friday when Singleton scored six touchdowns in a 49-26 win at Episcopal Academy. The 6-5, 225-pound tackle had a little something to do with it, too.

Goodman recorded four pancake blocks and earned a 91-percent blocking grade on his assignments, good enough to net him Diamond Credit Union Lineman of the Week honors.
“Nate Goodman has been consistently solid for us at left tackle all year,” said Gov. Mifflin coach Jeff Lang. “He leads our line weekly in percent blocking average and pancake blocks.
Goodman, a senior, also plays defensive end on the Mustangs’ top-rated defensive unit. He has long arms and the ability to bat down passes at the line; he’s also deceptively strong.
“He is a machine on the field,” said Lang. “He never tires, which can be attributed to his workout regime during the offseason.”
Goodman was a starting defensive end last season on Mifflin’s first District 3 Class 5A championship team. He also played tight end before converting of tackle for this season.
Goodman is the Mustangs’ first Lineman of the Week selection this season.
Singleton, who has rushed for 1,022 yards and scored 22 TDs, has been Offensive Lineman of the Week three times.
