Spartans update: Have won five straight since 20-3 loss at Haverford School in Week 2. . . Ranked No. 2 in the 37-team Lancaster-Lebanon League in total defense and No. 3 against the rush and has allowed just two first-half TDs in four league games. . . First-team defense allowed 14 points in last four games and scored 14 (INT return, fumble return and safety). . . Soph Justice Hardy leads team in rushing, is averaging 9.5 yards per carry and 17 yards per catch. . . . His team-high 12 TDs are tied for seventh-most in the league. . . Chase Eisenhower, a 1,000-yard rusher last season, has had just 40 carries, in large part because Spartans starters have been limited to first-half play because they’re led by an average of 29 points at halftime during the five-game winning streak. . . Soph Teddy White, a first-year starter at QB, has attempted just 27 passes. . . Have won 36 consecutive home games, a streak that includes 10 postseason games and dates back to 2018. . . Ranked No. 2 in District 3 Class 4A power ratings, behind Lampeter-Strasburg and one spot ahead of Twin Valley. . . Have won five straight District 3 Class 3A titles; now playing up a classification due to PIAA “Success Formula.” . . . Ranked No. 4 in the state in Class 4A.

Fast fact: Twin Valley has recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time in program history and has three in the last five weeks; the Raiders never recorded more than two shutouts in a season during their first 28 seasons.

Raiders update: Have opened 7-0 for the second straight season. . . Lost in Week 8 last year at Ephrata when they played without several starters, including their top two RBs, Drew Engle and Evan Johnson, due to injuries. . . Engle, who set a program record with 1,599 rushing yards last year as a sophomore, has not played since Week 1; head coach Brett Myers has not disclosed the reason nor said when he will return. . . Senior RB Evan Johnson leads team with 676 yards rushing and is averaging 10.2 yards per carry. . . He has scored a program-record 47 TDs over four seasons and is 582 yards away from Fred Caruso’s career rushing mark of 3,684 yards. . . Senior QB Evan Myers is also averaging 10.2 yards per carry and has rushed for 11 TDs. . .  Myers has thrown for 977 yards and 13 TDs and is completing a career-high 64.2 percent of his passes. . . The four-year starter has thrown for 5,151 yards and 39 touchdowns, both program records. . . Ranked No. 1 in the league in scoring (48.8) and winning margin (43.1), No. 3 in total yards (393.4). . . Defense, led by soph LB Lucas Myers, junior LB Ryan Rementer, and soph DE Joey Buckley, is ranked No. 1 in the league in total defense (105 yards per game), scoring defense (5.7), and rushing defense (41.4). . . Only six teams in the state have allowed fewer points. . . Coming off 49-0 win over Donegal, which opted not to come out for the second half due to mounting injuries. . . Ranked No. 3 in District 3 Class 4A power ratings, behind Lampeter-Strasburg and Wyomissing, both Section 4 rivals.

Fast fact: Twin Valley’s last win over the Spartans came in 2009.

Series flashback 2007: Nick Wilkinson rushed for 170 yards and scored three touchdowns as Twin Valley beat Wyomissing 34-14 in the regular season finale to clinch a tie for first place with the Spartans in Section 2 of the Berks Football League. The Raiders led 27-0 at the half to pave the way to their first title of any sorts. The win was their sixth straight after an 0-4 start and clinched an Eastern Conference playoff berth.

Did you know? Twin Valley launched its football program in 1996. Its first game was a 30-0 loss to Wyomissing.
