Twin Valley clinched a share of its second league title with a 54-7 dismantling of visiting Daniel Boone in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 matchup Friday night.
The program’s rapid ascension coincides with the arrival of Brett Myers. But you wouldn’t have known from Myers this once-struggling program locked up a piece of the Section 3 title.
“We aren’t worried about (the section title) right now,” the Raiders coach said. “We will worry about that at the banquet at the end of year. Right now we are focused on trying to get better.”
The Raiders (5-1, 8-1) came into this matchup off their first loss of the season, 52-33 against Ephrata. The top one-two punch in the Lancaster-Lebanon League, Drew Engle and Evan Johnson, were limited in that game due to injury.
Freshman Lucas Myers made the start in the backfield against the Blazers (0-5, 1-8), and did not disappoint. He scored four touchdowns on seven carries for 102 yards.
Engle and Johnson each played but again received limited reps. They each scored a touchdown and combined for 87 yards on five carries. Brett Myers said he believes that both are good to go moving forward.

“They looked pretty good tonight in limited roles,” Brett Myers said. “Every day they are going to get better.”
Johnson raced 42 yards on his second touch for a touchdown and in the process joined Engle with over 1,000 yards rushing.
It wasn’t the 1,000-yard club members that did the bulk of the damage against Daniel Boone. It was the Myers brothers. Quarterback Evan, a junior, finished with a game-high 135 rushing yards, including a 21-yard touchdown to make the halftime score 47-0.
The Blazers were missing multiple starters on both sides of the ball and did not have a first down in the first half; they finished the half with minus-7 yards.
“People don’t realize if you want to make a late run you need to be lucky and you need to be deep,” Brett Myers said. “To have Jordan Rose or any of our other backs, it gives us a lot of flexibility with E.J. (Evan Johnson), Drew, Lucas and (Ean) Winchester. To play a long season you have to be healthy and lucky and the easiest way to be healthy is to share touches.”
Lucas Myers entered the game with only 32 rushing yards but stepped up with a career-type game.
“The offensive line definitely made a lot of huge holes,” said Lucas, who started last week as well. “E.J. and Drew are always trying to help me out, telling me what I need to see, what cuts I should be making on the plays.”
Brett Myers is the father of Evan and Lucas. Evan has been starting quarterback but Lucas was in a featured offensive role for the first time. He leads the team in tackles from his spot at linebacker.
“(Lucas’ performance) is what we expect, he works really hard,” Brett Myers said. “In the end, he is a football player and he played tonight.”
The Raiders finish the regular season with a non-conference game against Hatboro-Horsham. They entered the night No. 2 in the District 3 Class 4A power ratings.
