Former Mifflin star signs as free agent following NFL Draft
There could be more than one former Governor Mifflin Mustang in the NFL next season.
Cam’Ron Stewart is hoping to join former NFL teammate Nick Singleton after being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings following the completion of the draft Saturday.

Stewart, who played at Temple the past two seasons after beginning his college career at Rutgers, was one of 19 players signed by the Vikings.
He is one of three outside linebackers, along with Jordan Botelho of Notre Dame and Arden Walker of Colorado.
Stewart had an impressive Pro Day showing last month at Temple, recording a 4.56 in the 40, an eye-opening time for a man who goes 6-4 and 250 pounds.
Had he been invited to the NFL Combine and posted such a time it would’ve been one of the highest on the board among edge rushers, a coveted commodity in the league.
That, no doubt, has led to his chance with the Vikings.
The Vikings have scheduled their rookie minicamp for May 8. Stewart will join the other 18 free agents, along with the nine players taken over the first three rounds of the draft, at the camp in Eagan, Minnesota.
Following that the Vikings will host a seven-week program for rookies beginning May 11.
Berks Catholic grad Brandon George and Wyomissing grad Max Hurleman followed a similar past last year after signing, respectively, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers. Each participated with their clubs throughout the preseason, then were added to their respective practice squads.
Stewart was named Berks County Defensive Lineman of the Year as a senior in 2020, earned All-State honors and was named MVP of the Big 33 Classic. He and Singleton played key roles in the Mustangs first district championship.
Now he’s hoping to share the dream that Singleton experienced Saturday when he was drafted by the Tennessee Titans.
“We grew up together,” Stewart said in the days leading up to the draft. “We always knew something like this would happen. It would be a dream-come-true if we both get in there.”
