Five Fast Football Facts for Week 4

Wyomissing’s Ben Zechman and Exeter’s Mason Rotelli are among the top-ranked passers in the Lancaster-Lebanon League, according to stats on lancasteronline.

Zechman, a senior, has completed 70 percent of his passes with three TDs and no interceptions. He’s tied for first with Elizabethtown’s Josh Rudy, who has thrown for 796 yards and 10 TDs. Rudy is the grandson of Skip Rudy, the former Holy Name coach.

Rotelli, a senior, is ranked third. He has completed 27-of-38 passes for 471 yards and seven TDs.

Hamburg has recorded consecutive 3-0 starts for just the second time in program history.

The Hawks opened 3-0 in both 1999 and 2000. Neither season ended particularly well. They finished 4-6 the first time and 6-5 the second time (with a pair of forfeit wins).

Last season the Hawks opened 3-0 and finished strong, winning a District 3 playoff game for the first time.

The Hawks go for their first 4-0 start tonight at Annville-Cleona Cleona since opening 6-0 in 2006, when they went on to finish 8-2 in the regular season.

Twin Valley owns a 10-3 series lead over Fleetwood but the Tigers have won two of the last three, including 26-9 last season at Tigers Stadium when Gavin Morris ran for 116 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Tanner Maddocks intercepted a pair of passes.

Twin Valley won the first seven series meetings, from 2001-07.

The Raiders and Tigers open Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 play tonight at Fleetwood.

Kutztown will try to snap a 12-game losing streak against Schuylkill Valley tonight at Leesport. The Cougars haven’t won a game in the series since 2008 and trail overall 31-9.

The teams met for the first time in 1976.

The Cougars and Panthers have always shared the same league address, first in the Inter-County League, then briefly in Section 3 of the I-C and most recently in Section 2 of the Berks Football League.

They’re now competing in Section 5 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League.

Hamburg and Annville-Cleona meet for the first time since 2015 tonight when they open Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 5 play at Annville-Cleona. The Hawks own a 5-3 series lead; they won the first four meetings, from 2008-2011. The Little Dutchmen own a two-game winning streak in the brief series.
