Wilson scored the first nine points and saw four different players hit 3-pointers in a 26-point first quarter as it sprinted ahead of Susquehanna Township en route to a 71-64 non-league victory Monday at West Lawn.
The Bulldogs (12-5) led by 16 points after one quarter and by 17 heading into the fourth quarter.
Junior Luke Levan scored a career-high 20 points to lead Wilson. Cam Zullinger also registered a season-high, with 12 points.
Zullinger, Correll Akings, Jon Etim and Tommy Hunsicker each hit a 3-pointer for Wilson in the opening period.
The win helped Wilson solidify its spot in the District 3 Class 6A power ratings, where it is currently No. 7, one spot ahead of Reading High. The top eight teams open the district playoffs at home; the top four earn first-round byes.
The Bulldogs used a 12-point run, capped by Zullinger’s 3-pointer, to stretch their first-quarter lead to 24-5 with 1:25 remaining.
The Indians (8-8) scored 27 fourth-quarter points to close the gap. Alfonso Burnett had 11 of his game-high 24 points and Makhi Slappy had nine of his 19 points in the final quarter. They combined to hit six straight free throws. The Bulldogs missed five fourth-quarter free throws.
The Bulldogs, who share first place in Division I of the Berks Conference with Muhlenberg, swing back into league action Friday at Exeter. They’ll play the Muhls next Monday at Laureldale.
