Exeter, Wyomissing hold Top 10 spots in final state rankings

Wyomissing finished the season ranked No. 5 in Class 4A and Exeter No. 8 in Class 5A in the PennLive.com state rankings.
Wilson and Twin Valley maintained their honorable mention spots, the Bulldogs in 6A, the Raiders in 4A.
Wyomissing was ranked in the Top 10 for 17 straight weeks, since the preseason rankings, peaking at No. 2 in Weeks 9 and 10 before a loss to Lampeter-Strasburg in the regular season finale.
Since the inception of the rankings, Wyomissing has spent 361 weeks in the rankings, more than any Berks program; 216 of those have been in the Top 10, 17 at No. 1.
Exeter spent 10 weeks in the rankings this season and four in the Top 10, peaking at No. 6 after taking out undefeated Conestoga Valley in a district semifinal. Exeter has spent 53 weeks in the rankings, 34 in the Top 10.
Twin Valley was in the rankings every week of the season, starting at No. 7 in the preseason and peaking at No. 1 for three straight weeks before a Week 8 loss to Wyomissing. It was the first time the Raiders reached No. 1.
They spent the first eight weeks of the season in the Top 10, with a week at No. 3 and a week at No. 2, each a highwater mark at the time. They were No. 7 in the preseason and moved into the No. 1 spot after a 5-0 start.
Wilson spent 16 weeks in the rankings, including six straight in the Top 10. The Bulldogs peaked at No. 5 before a lopsided loss to Harrisburg in the district final.
The Bulldogs have spent 344 weeks in the rankings but have never reached No. 1; they have spent three weeks at No. 2.
Two other Berks teams appeared in rankings this season, both outside the Top 10 as Teams To Watch: Schuylkill Valley debuted there in the preseason in Class 3A; Conrad Weiser spent one week there after completing a perfect regular season.
Three other Lancaster-Lebanon League teams appear in the final rankings: Lampeter-Strasburg at No. 2 in Class 4A, and Manheim Township and Conestoga Valley as honorable mention picks, in 6A and 5A, respectively.
Lampeter-Strasburg was unbeaten before falling to Bonner-Prendergast in the PIAA championship game.
