Following an early exit from injured Exeter quarterback Riley Martinez, backup Jake Hafer stepped in and led the visiting Eagles to a 28-10 non-league win over Boyertown Friday night.
Hafer finished the night with three touchdowns (two rushing), including a 50-yard passing touchdown late in the second quarter giving the Eagles a 21-0 lead at the half.
Martinez left the game with an apparent leg injury shortly after a 46-yard pass to wide receiver Jayden Ware that set up the Eagles first score – a two yard run by Jackson Kozik — with just 10:37 left in the first quarter,
No information on Martinez’s injury was available immediately after the game.
After a Boyertown fumble on the assuming kickoff return, the Eagles took a 14-0 lead on a 1-yard run by Hafer.
The ground game led by running back Leo Brown proved to be too much for the Bears to handle.
Brown finished with 154 yards on 32 carries.
