Evan Myers and his Twin Valley teammates needed a reset after a tough two-week stretch that saw losses to state heavyweights Wyomissing and Lampeter-Strasburg.
As he has done so many times in his record-setting career, Myers was the catalyst of a strong response by the Raiders, throwing for four touchdowns and adding another score on the ground in a 42-6 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 4 rout of Daniel Boone Friday night at Birdsboro.
Twin Valley had some key injuries, most notably the team’s rushing leader this season, Evan Johnson, who missed his second straight game. Junior running back Drew Engle has not appeared in a game since Week 1.
Sophomore Chase Reilly had 200 rushing yards and a touchdown in their place.
“We haven’t had our full strength the last 3-to-4 weeks,” Evan Meyers said. “I’m excited to see guys start going back in.”
Myers’ four touchdown passes broke a tie for 10th all-time in Berks history and gave him 46. He ranks second in all-time passing yardage. His 99 yards passing Friday put him at 5,580 for his career.
The District 3 playoff picture won’t be official until Sunday but it appears Twin Valley will host an opening-round game next week as the No. 5 seed, against No. 12.
Myers got to do it all under the watchful eye of his father Brett, who has been the Twin Valley head coach for the past three seasons.

“It’s nice not having to go home and shoot a text to someone when I have a question,” Brett Myers said. “I’d say we’re usually on the same page, too, from being around each other a lot. There are times where we want a play call and I feel like I know it already before it’s being called.”
The elder Myers was pleased with the response from his team this week in practice after two straight losses.
“It’s a sign of our maturity and the leadership of our players and captains,” Brett Myers said. “We probably had our best week of practice in the last five or six weeks.”
For Daniel Boone, a second straight season ended in a 1-9 record. The Blazers have just four wins since 2022.
The only Daniel Boone touchdown came on a highly entertaining sequence late in the second quarter. Quarterback Haydn Moyer ran for a first down gain of 9 yards but took a late hit out of bounds on the Twin Valley sideline that left him injured and down for several minutes.
Moyer returned after two plays and threw an 18-yard touchdown to Harrison Delissaint, who made a tough, contested catch along the sideline in the end zone. The score got the Blazers within 28-6 and added to a great game for Delissaint, who had 97 receiving yards.
