Emmaus stifles Reading High offense in rout

EMMAUS – Emmaus capitalized on Reading High’s failure to sustain drives, leading to a 38-7 non-league victory for the Hornets Friday night at t EPSD Stadium.
Red Knights senior quarterback Kayson Fritz completed just four passes on 13 attempts for 35 yards. Fritz threw two interceptions on the night with the second one leading to an Emmaus touchdown at the end of the first quarter that made it 17-0.
Alexis Alvarado was used heavily on the ground for the Red Knights (1-2), but couldn’t get much going. He had just one rush of 10 or more yards.
The mercy rule came into effect about midway through the third quarter after a 15-yard touchdown run by Neo Michel to put Emmaus (2-1) up 38-0.
Fritz scored the lone touchdown for the Red Knights on a 2-yard touchdown run with 3:23 left in the third quarter to make the score 38-7.
The Red Knights couldn’t carry their offensive success from last week’s victory over Muhlenberg, totaling only 129 yards of offense against Emmaus. The Red Knights have a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 opener next Friday against Wilson.
