YORK — Down by multiple scores for the first time this season, it would have been easy for Twin Valley to roll over.
Spoiler alert: The Raiders didn’t. Twin Valley scored 45 unanswered points to secure a 45-14 win over West York in the District 3 Class 4A semifinals Friday.

The undefeated, third-seeded Raiders won a program-record 12th game and will play top-seeded and unbeaten Susquehanna Township at a neutral site next Friday for the District 3 crown.
“We’ve got great kids,” Twin Valley head coach Brett Myers said. “They keep playing. They love playing together.”
West York (10-2), the second seed, scored a pair of touchdowns on its first three drives – both 1-yard quarterback sneaks by Jensen Ferber.
Twin Valley’s first-team defense had allowed only two first-half touchdowns all season. Yet in less than six minutes that figure doubled.
There was no panic. The Raiders (12-0) stayed the course.
“Follow the game plan, get the ball to 26 (Drew Engle), give the ball to 2 (Lucas Myers) a little bit and play good solid defense,” said Twin Valley coach Brett Myers.
Engle seemed to like that plan. He ran for a career-high 250 yards and four scores against West York’s district-leading defense, becoming Twin Valley’s career rushing yards leader. He now has 3,690 yards, passing Dominic Caruso’s mark of 3,684.
“My offensive line throughout the years has been awesome,” Engle said. “Paul McClune, Aris Drake, Carter Faubel, Masen Ketner, Greyson Miller, Noah DiGiacomo, I could keep naming them . . . without them, I wouldn’t have been able to do it.”

Engle ripped off a 51-yard touchdown run to get the Raiders on the board on their third drive in the final minute of the first quarter. He then ran for 17- and 57-yard scores in the third quarter and an 8-yard tumble in the fourth.
Myers also got in on the action, running for 25- and 13-yard scores in the second and third quarters, respectively. He finished with 75 yards.
“Our offensive line is incredible,” Engle said. “I love running behind them. They’re some of our hardest workers, and they deserve so much credit because they’re really good at what they do.”
Twin Valley hadn’t trailed by more than a field goal all season. Despite being down by a point at halftime, it was clear that momentum had shifted. The second half was all Raiders.
“I don’t want to say it was a shock we were down, but it wasn’t a shock that we came back,” Brett Myers said. “They’re tough kids.”
West York’s offense was completely shut down after the first quarter. The Bulldogs earned nine first downs in the opening quarter and then just two the rest of the game.
“It’s kind of like a Triple Option,” Myers said of West York’s offense. “You can’t simulate it in practice, but once they settled in, it kind of got a little easier.”
Twin Valley had been knocked out in the district semifinals each of the last three seasons. In their 30th football season, the Raiders will have a shot at their first District 3 title.
“I think our culture is a little bit stronger,” Engle said. “I think together, we’re working really hard and forming a good identity around our program.”
This group has already re-written history – and it isn’t done yet.
