Dominic Giuffre is Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week
Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week
Quarterback Michael Goad says the minute Dominic Giuffre stepped on the football field before last season he and his Schuylkill Valley teammates knew he was going to make an impact.
A year later the junior has become one of the top running backs in the Lancaster-Lebanon League after rushing for over 200 and then more than 300 yards in consecutive weeks.
“Every time he touches the ball and breaks another one, it blows my mind,” said Goad. “He’s done tremendous things for our team.”
Giuffre used the Frost Bowl as his personal showcase Friday, rushing for a program-record 302 yards in a 41-34 win over Hamburg.
Giuffre scored four touchdowns to earn Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week for the first time. He scored on runs of 9, 63, 96 and 33 yards, his last score giving the Panthers a 41-20 lead late in the third quarter.
“He has excellent field vision, he can break a lot of tackles for a skinny guy like him and he just knows football,” said offensive lineman Christian Davila. “He has heart to play.”

Giuffre showed all of that on his 96-yard run — the longest scoring play in Berks this season, and second-longest in program history.
He swung momentum to his side for good when he took a toss around left end, tight-roped up the sideline, cut back at the Hamburg 33, paused to direct his downfield blocker — quarterback Matt Nawrocki — then crossed to the other side of the field to complete his exhilarating run.
“There was a guy in front of me, so I decided to run outside and go all the way up the sideline,” Giuffre explained.
“I was getting chased down, so I cut back inside, and I waved our quarterback to set a block, and I scored.”
He was so gassed after the play he laid down in the end zone while his teammates celebrated around him.
“All the credit goes to the linemen,” Giuffre said. “I couldn’t get it done without them.”
Giuffre’s 302 yards topped the program record of 261, set by Matt Young in 2006.
He became the first Schuylkill Valley back in eight years to top 1,000 yards in a season; he’s now at 1,256, tops in Berks and fourth-most in the league.
His 21 touchdowns are second-most in Berks and six shy of the program record. It was the third time this season he has scored four TDs in a game and the fifth time he’s topped 100 yards. Last week he went for 202 yards and four TDs against Columbia.
Giuffre, who transferred from Wilson before his sophomore season, is now within range Nick Scheidt’s program rushing record of 1,618 yards, set in 2013. The Panthers have two regular season games left and likely at least one in the District 3 Class 3A Tournament.
“This feels amazing,” Giuffre said after the Panthers’ sixth straight win, a first for the program. “We’ve worked for this. It’s a team thing, and we definitely deserve this.”
