Cougars fall to Nativity despite big offensive performance by Lennon Neiman

Lennon Neiman rushed for 153 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns but Kutztown couldn’t slow down visiting Nativity in a 46-24 non-league loss Friday.

Neiman scored on a 22-yard run and a 72-yard reception from Jacob Lafferty; he had two receptions for 84 yards.

Lafferty scored a pair of touchdowns, on runs of 4 and 8 yards.

The Cougars (1-1), who totaled over 400 yards of offense, were within 14-12 early in the second period before the Green Wave (1-1) scored 17 unanswered points to lead 31-12 at the half.

Isaac Schneider rushed for 72 yards on 11 carries for Kutztown.

Lafferty completed 4-of-9 passes for 130 yards.

The Cougars opened last week with a 27-14 win over Shenandoah Valley. Neiman rushed for 178 yards in that game and has 331 for the season.

Nativity lost its opener to Milton Area, 39-28.

Kutztown plays at Pequea Valley Friday; the Braves lost their season-opener Friday 41-20 to Hanover.
