Colin Payne throws three TDs in Exeter’s 77-7 rout of Muhlenberg
Colin Payne threw three touchdown passes and Exeter returned a pair of interceptions for touchdowns in a record-setting 77-7 win over Muhlenberg Friday in a Berks Football League Section 1 opener at Don Thomas Stadium.
The Eagles (4-2) set a program record for points and largest margin of victory, and scored the most points in a Berks football game in nearly a century.
Nine different players scored touchdowns for Exeter.
The loss was the 23rd straight for the Muhls (0-6), a streak that extends over three seasons.

Jacob Wolfe returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, and the Eagles led 28-0 after one quarter.
It was 56-7 at the half.
The Muhls turned it over five times.
The 77 points are the most scored in a Berks football game since 1914, when Reading High scored 96 against Pottstown. The Red Knights scored 83 in a win over Allentown in 1913. Exeter’s point total is third-highest in Berks history.
The Eagles’ previous scoring high came in 1967, in a 61-12 win over Central Columbia.
Payne threw TD passes to Joey Schlaffer, J.R. Strauss and Carson Schmidt, giving him 11 for the season.
Schlaffer also had a 59-yard interception return; Zach Zandier also had a Pick Six that covered 23 yards.
Cabraun Woody had a pair of TD runs for the Eagles.
The Muhls were limited to 146 total yards. Half of that came on their only score, a 74-yard pass from Gio Cavanna to Warren Reinhart to make it 35-7 early in the second quarter.
The 70-point loss was the largest in Muhlenberg history, topping a 51-0 defeat to Exeter last season. The 77 points are the most ever allowed by the Muhls.
