QUARRYVILLE — Solanco used its ground game in the second half to pound Daniel Boone 48-27 in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 game Friday night in Quarryville.

The Mules rushed for 392 yards and six touchdowns and Landon Steele added a special teams score to turn what was a close game into a rout.

Solanco fullback Johnny Garcia rushed for 238 yards and two first-half touchdowns to give the Mules (2-2, 3-5) an early advantage.

Boone quarterback Dean Rotter threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns, Joseph DiGiacomo caught 11 passes for 150 yards, and the Blazers (0-4, 1-7) rallied to tie the game in the third quarter before Solanco pulled away.

A pair of fumbles by the home team helped give the Blazers new life.

A fumble recovery by Daniel Boone near midfield led to a 13-play, 45-yard drive and an eventual 25-yard field goal by Justin Aidukas.

Following another chip-shot field goal, Solanco fumbled on its next play from scrimmage.

Rotter promptly connected with receiver Max Heffner for a 21-yard score and Solanco’s lead was cut to just 20-13 at the half.

Trailing 27-20 in the third quarter, Boone tried a 38-yard field goal. Steele blocked the kick, picked up the loose ball, and hustled 62 yards to the end zone to restore Solanco’s double-digit lead.

The Mules subsequently collected a surprise onside kick, and Cody Nolan plowed in for a 4-yard touchdown to give his team a commanding 41-20 lead after three quarters.

Garcia had touchdowns of 2 and 53 yards and added a 2-point conversion. Steele added a 39-yard score in the first quarter, Austin Jarabak had a 1-yard keeper in the third quarter and Kris Burgos capped the Mules’ night with an 8-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
