Josiah “Jay Jay” Jordan was an All-State defensive back and game-changing open-field runner at Berks Catholic. He’s been even more dominant at the college level at Slippery Rock.

Jordan has been named Pennsylvania Conference Western Division Offensive Athlete of the Year after leading the conference in rushing yards and all-purpose yards.

The 5-11 180-pound junior was named Offensive Player of the Week three times during a 10-game season that saw him finishing with 1,375 rushing yards and 1,858 all-purpose yards. His ranks eighth in program history in single-season rushing and third in all-purpose yards.

Jordan is just the second running back in program history to be recognized as the Offensive Player of the Year in the conference, joining Greg Paterra in 1988.

Jordan’s 1,858 all-purpose yards were the most among Division II players participating in 10 games, and third counting those who played in 11 games.

His 185.5 all-purpose yards per game rank No. 2 in the country.

Jordan ranks sixth in the country in rushing yards and second among players who played in 10 games. His 8.09 yards per carry and 137.5 rushing yards per game each rank fourth-best in the nation.

Jordan ran for more than 100 yards seven times, topped 150 rushing yards in five games, had at least 180 all-purpose yards in six games, and topped 250 all-purpose yards three times.

Jordan will Slippery Rock’s nominee for the Harlon Hill Award, which goes to the nation’s outstanding player at the Division II level.

Jordan was an All-State defensive back as a senior at Berks Catholic in 2022, rushed for 1,225 yards and scored 23 touchdowns. His 45 career touchdowns and 2,224 career rushing yards are each fourth-most in Saints history. His six interceptions in a season are second-most in program history, as are his seven touchdown receptions in a season.

Jordan was also an All-Berks pick and 1,000-point scorer in basketball, where he helped the Saints to consecutive district championships.

Jordan began his collegiate career at Wilkes University in 2023 where he made an immediate impact on both offense and special teams on the way to being named Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and a first team all-conference kick returner.

He ran for 549 yards and seven touchdowns on 61 carries over 11 games and averaged 8.8 yards per rush. He also caught four passes for 54 yards and a touchdown and racked up 748 kick return yards, averaging 20.8 yards per return.

After transferring to Slippery Rock last year, Jordan appeared in eight games, ran for 45 yards on eight carries, returned each of his kicks 30-plus yards and caught five passes for 59 yards and one touchdown.

The Rock have earned the Offensive Player of the Year award eight times, with six of those honors coming from quarterbacks, including three-time honoree Randy McKavish (1997, 1998, 2000) and more recent awardees Nigel Barksdale (2013), Roland Rivers III (2019) and Brayden Long (2023).
