Body Zone Physical Therapy Defensive Player of the Week
Aaron Shuker ended his high school football season on top. After some trying times throughout the year the Muhlenberg senior came up with a pair of Pick-Sixes to spark a 38-6 win over Reading High and snap a 26-game losing streak.
His two big plays — a 39-yard interception return at the start of the second half, and another of 53 yards a few minutes later — have netted him Body Zone Physical Therapy Defensive Player of the Week honors.

“Aaron’s first interception was a momentum swing,” said Muhls coach John Lorchak, whose team entered the third quarter leading 14-0. “It elevated the focus on both offense and defense.”
Shuker also scored on a 65-yard run and finished with a team-high 117 rushing yards.
The 5-8, 180-pound outside linebacker provided leadership throughout the season as the Muhls worked to break their three-season losing streak.
“Through his work ethic on and off the field, he sets the standard for teammates to achieve,” Lorchak said. “Aaron’s practice demeanor and execution sets the tone for the team. He played relentlessly on both sides of the football and on several special teams.
“Not only was he a dominant runner, he excelled at receiving out of the backfield. Defensively he was a force against the run, while able to defend against the pass.”
Shuker led the Muhls this season with seven touchdowns and with 596 rushing yards. He averaged 7.4 yards per carry.
He and his teammates hadn’t won a game since he was a freshman.
“This win means the world to us,” Shuker said. “We have been working so hard all season and even though the rest of the season is not what we wanted, we got that (Battle of the Border) trophy back. I will remember this night forever.”
Shuker is the first Muhlenberg player selected for a MikeDragoSports.com weekly award this season.
