Wilson’s Jack Dendall earns two top awards on L-L Section 1 all-league team

Wilson’s Jack Dendall earned both the Outstanding Lineman and the Offensive Lineman of the Year awards in Section 1 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League, it was announced tonight at the annual Lancaster-Lebanon League football coach’s banquet.
Dendall, a 6-3, 260-pound senior and repeat pick, is joined on the first team by teammates Edison Case, a repeat pick at wide receiver, and Logan Kurzweg, a repeat pick on the offensive line.
Kurzweg was selected as a center as a junior and as a guard this year.
Reading High had four first-team picks: Running back Alexis Alvarado, guard Romello Fuentes, defensive lineman Michael Odeyemi and defensive back Xavier Beatty.
Section 1 champ Manheim Township had 11 first-team picks, including Outstanding Back and Offensive Back of the Year Hayden Johnson, a senior quarterback, and Landon Kennell, the Receiver of the Year.
Township’s Declan Clancy was a two-way first-team pick for the second straight season, at running back and linebacker.
The other two-way picks: McCaskey wide receiver/defensive back DeAndre Jones, Cedar Crest tight end/defensive end Aiden Schomp, and Johnson, a quarterback/punter.
Township had four of the six specialty award winners, including Johnson; Clancy, Linebacker of the Year; and Eli Rodriguez, Defensive Lineman of the Year. Cedar Crest’s Owen Chernich is Defensive Back of the Year.
There were 11 repeat selections on the first team.
Hempfield’s Deyvid Palepale, the Offensive and Defensive Lineman of the Year as a junior, was not named to the team. The Southern Cal recruit left the Black Knights at midseason.
Johnson threw for 2,896 yards and 49 touchdowns without an interception. Twenty-five of his TD tosses went to Kennel, who had 64 receptions for 1,120 yards.
Case led the Bulldogs in receiving yards, with 509, and had 24 receptions and seven TD catches.
Alvarado led the Red Knights with 819 rushing yards.
The teams are selected in a vote of Section 1 coaches.
