Wilson’s Cam Jones: Body Zone Physical Therapy Defensive Player of the Week
Body Zone Physical Therapy Defensive Player of the Week
As he prepared for a critical Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 showdown against Hempfield last week Wilson coach Doug Dahms was deeply concerned about Black Knights quarterback Cam Harbaugh and his fleet set of receivers.
The Bulldogs didn’t stop them much in the first half Friday but a halftime defensive adjustment played a key role in the 28-21 victory.
After seeing Harbaugh connect with Adam Acker four times for 104 yards in the first half the Bulldogs put cornerback Cam Jones on the Black Knights’ top receiver. That helped turn the tide and earned Jones Body Zone Physical Therapy Defensive Player of the Week honors.

“Cam shut him down in the second half,” Dahms said. “Acker had no catches while Cam covered him.”
Acker finished with five catches for 124 yards, and Harbaugh threw for 280 yards.
The 5-11, 165-pound Jones is a true triple threat. Last week he was named MikeDragoSports.com Offensive Player of the week after scoring on a pair of kick returns and playing quarterback out of the Wildcat set in a win over Cedar Crest.
The junior is just as important on defense, where he has used his speed and athletic ability to develop into a shutdown corner. He started at that spot as a sophomore and earned second-team all-league honors. He was also a second-team all-league pick as a long snapper.
Against Hempfield he had five tackles and was credited with one pass breakup.
“Most teams have not gone at Cam this year, since he is so solid at both man coverage and reacts very quickly in zone,” Dahms said.
Jones has a team-high four pass breakups this season. He has 19 tackles, two for loss, and an interception.
Last week Jones became the first Wilson player selected for a MikeDragoSports.com weekly award. He is just the fourth player this season to pick up multiple awards, joining Nick Singleton and Nate Goodman of Gov. Mifflin and Luke Palange of Exetre.
