Kutztown tops Lock Haven, remains perfect in PSAC East

Darryl Davis-McNeil ran for a career-high 148 yards and a touchdown as No. 25 Kutztown pounded Lock Haven with a season-high 241 rushing yards in a 32-15 Pennsylvania Conference East road victory Saturday.

The Golden Bears improved to 5-0 in the league and 7-1 overall. They have won six straight.

Kutztown quarterback Eric Nickel completed 14-of-20 passes for 182 yards and two TDs.

Boyertown’s Jerry Kapp caught two passes for 30 yards.

Wilson grad Mason McElroy, who injured his shoulder last week, started at wide receiver but did not catch a pass and did not return punts.

Kutztown took the lead for good at 12-7 on Nickel’s 5-yard TD pass with 3:56 left in the first half. The Golden Bears extended that lead to 19-7 at the half after Nickel’s 1-yard run with 13 seconds left.
Lock Haven (0-5, 1-7) was limited to 58 rushing yards.

Kutztown’s Amani Justice tied his career high with 11 tackles, his fourth straight game with double-figure tackles. He also combined on a sack and had a quarterback hurry.

Davis-McNeil, getting the start at running back, carried six times for 37 yards and caught a pass for 7 yards on a determined first drive for KU. The redshirt junior from Roslyn capped the drive with a 2-yard touchdown run for a 6-0 lead.

The Golden Bears play Millersville for Homecoming Saturday at Andre Reed Stadium at 2:05.

Kutztown has 10 straight wins over Millersville in the series going back to 2010.
