Little movement in state rankings as Gov. Mifflin, other No. 1’s, keep winning
After some tumultuous weeks, the state rankings have calmed down. There were virtually no changes within the PennLive.Com Top 10’s, and each of the No. 1’s stayed on top.
Berks Catholic, which had been No. 9 in Class 4A, dropped out of the Top 10 after a 33-21 loss to Exeter; the Saints are listed as a Team To Watch.
Gov. Mifflin remained No. 1 in Class 5A and Wyomissing held at No. 3 in Class 3A.
The highest-ranked team to lose last week was Chester, which fell to unranked Coatesville 34-28; the Clippers fell from No. 5 to No. 6 in Class 5A. The Red Raiders are 7-1 and listed among the Teams To Watch in Class 6A after their fifth straight win.
Pine-Richland, the defending champ in Class 5A, fell out of the Teams To Watch list after losing to a 3-3 North Hills team, 13-7; the Rams slipped to 4-4.
St. Joseph’s Prep, the defending champ in Class 6A, remains at No. 5 after a 38-20 win over Archbishop Wood. The Hawks play Roman Catholic on Friday; Roman knocked La Salle College out of the No. 1 spot two weeks ago with a 27-20 win.
The District 3 Class 6A field appears wide open. Central York, the only unbeaten, is ranked No. 3. Harrisburg is at No. 6 after its fourth straight win, 45-7 over Cumberland Valley. Two others District 3 teams are listed among the Class 6A Teams To Watch: C.D. East and York High. Central Dauphin, which has won five straight since a season-opening loss to Wilson, is not listed among the Teams To Watch. Neither are the Bulldogs, who have won three straight.
Steel-High remains No. 1 in 1A; it is the only ranked District 3 team in that class.
