Incredibly, Wilson has never lost to Penn Manor – not in 31 meetings dating back to 1992.
The Comets had some strong teams a few years back. No team came closer to ending Wilson’s league-record winning streak. They led the 14-0 in 2013 before the Bulldogs rallied for a 21-14 victory. The season before the Comets were 8-0 and playing at home but the Bulldogs pulled out a 14-7 win.
More recently the games haven’t been close. Wilson won 56-7 last season and has won by an average of 33.2 points over the last seven meetings.
After an 0-4 start Penn Manor has won three straight. The teams meet for the 32nd time tonight, at Gurski Stadium.

2
Conrad Weiser and Wyomissing, who meet Saturday at Bob Wolfrum Field, haven’t played much in recent years but were once part of the hottest rivalry in the Inter-County League, during the 1980’s and 1990’s.
The greatest finish in league history might’ve come in 1993 when Conrad Weiser beat Wyomissing 21-14 at the A-Field on the final day of the regular season to force a three-way tie for first between those two teams and Muhlenberg.
The Scouts held off the Spartans 21-20 in the final game of the 1981 season to complete an unbeaten run through the I-C.
The teams played just twice between 2006 and 2020 as they were in different sections of the Berks Football League. They were paired again last season in Section 4 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League.
3
Hamburg and Schuylkill Valley meet tonight in Leesport to play for the Frost Bowl Trophy for the 43rd time. The Hawks lead the trophy series 24-17-1.
Hamburg head coach Matt Hoffert was a senior in 2000 when he helped the Hawks pull out a 20-19 victory. He lost his first Frost Bowl as head coach last season, 41-34.
The rivals first met in 1970, Hamburg’s second varsity season, but the Frost Bowl wasn’t born until 1976.

4
Wilson quarterback Tommy Hunsicker is averaging 213 passing yards per game. If he maintains that pace over the final three regular season games he’ll finish with over 2,100 yards; he’lll be within range of the program record and have a chance to top it should the Bulldogs advance to the postseason.
Zach Zweizig threw for 2,326 yards in 13 games in 2009 to set the program record.
Four others have topped 2,000 yards at Wilson: Kerry Collins (1989), Chad Henne (2002), Seth Klein (2011) and Connor Uhrig (2016).
5
Twin Valley’s Evan Johnson needs 35 rushing yards tonight at Ephrata to become the second Berks back this season to reach 1,000 yards.
Teammate Drew Engle passed the 1,000-yard mark last week; he has 1,078 yards.
Twin Valley had only three 1,000-yard rushers prior to this season.
Johnson passed the 1,000-yard mark last season in a playoff win against Milton Hershey but finished the season finale with minus-22 yards and ended the season at 993.
