Week 7: Fearless Friday Football Forecast (updated with results)

Looks like I’m playing cornerback this weekend . . . out there on Revis Island, all alone . . . the only brave soul to pick against a team that’s won a Berks-record 41 straight regular season games.
Oh well, there goes my invitation to the Bob Wolfrum Field dedication next week. . . guess I’ll have to read about it in the paper.
Yes, I’m the first person in the storied two-year history of the Fearless Friday Football Forecast to pick against Wyomissing in a regular season game.
Sam Cavalieri picked against the Spartans last year, against Danville in the PIAA playoffs — and did you see what happened to him? He moved out of Berks County not long after. Yep.
Win or lose against Cocalico I’ll be scorned the next time I enter the Borough, I know it. Frank Ferrandino, the Wyo athletic director/assistant coach, will probably give away my seat in the press box. Bob Wolfrum will stop rooting for my hometown Orioles. Matt Ecker will be blasting me on Feedback. Spartans across the nation will be canceling their subscriptions. I can see it coming.
That Wyo/Cocalico game is just one of several tough picks this week; some of the Fearless Forecasters spent most of the week scratching their heads and seeking out crystal balls. Who to take when 6-0 Twin Valley plays 6-0 Garden Spot? It went 7-6 in favor of the Spartans. I’m surprised no one predicted a tie.
That Weiser/Donegal game turned out to be a coin flip, too. Scouts get the edge here.
There are not a whole lot of locks on the board in Week 7. This will be an anxious Friday night for the Forecasters, for sure. Some head coaches, too.
Each week, MikeDragoSports.com staff writers and photographers, along with Jeff Reinhart of football partner LNP/Lancasteronline, and Daryn Zeiner of Jerry Geleff Media will pick all the Berks games. We’ll keep standings and the Forecaster with the most points at the end of the season will get a big prize!
Each correct pick earns one point; if a Forecaster “doubles down” on a Berks team and is correct he gets two points. Each Fearless Forecaster can “down double” on a team only once during the regular season (and once again during the postseason).
