Another week, another win and another move up for Exeter in the state rankings.

The Eagles, off to a 5-0 start and with 17 consecutive regular season victories, moved up one notch in Class 5A to No. 3 in the PennLive.com weekly rankings.

Wyomissing, which has won a Berks-record 40 straight regular season games, holds at No. 2 in Class 3A, where it began the season.

Belle Vernon, the preseason No. 1 in 3A, took its first loss last week, 24-19 to Thomas Jefferson, ranked No. 3 in Class 4A. The defending PIAA champion Leopards hold their spot atop the rankings despite seeing their 14-game winning streak come to an end.

The only other Berks team in the rankings is Twin Valley, which is 5-0 for the first time and remains listed as a Team To Watch in Class 4A.

There were no major changes in the rankings.

Cocalico, coming off a 24-10 win over previously unbeaten Lampeter-Strasburg, debuts at No. 10 in Class 5A. Cocalico and Exeter, which met for the District 3 championship last season, are the only District 3 teams in the rankings.

No. 6 West Perry is one of two District 3 teams in the Class 3A rankings, along with Wyomissing. Those teams met for the district championship last year with the Spartans winning 63-7.

Loyalsock, which lost in Weeks 3 and 4, has dropped out of the Class 3A rankings. The Lancers opened the season with a 25-21 win over Berks Catholic.
