Body Zone Physical Therapy Defensive Player of the Week
Nate Goodman’s main assignment on the Gov. Mifflin football team is as a left offensive tackle, and he does an outstanding job there. He sealed off the edge several times in Friday’s win at Exeter, springing Nick Singleton for long runs.

Against an Eagles team with a productive offense and strong offensive line he was called upon to play a lot more on defense, at end, and came through in a big way.
The 6-5, 225-pound senior had 2 1/2 sacks, forced a fumble and blocked a punt in the Mustangs’ 54-21 win. He has been named Body Zone Physical Therapy Defensive Player of the Week .
“With what Exeter does, and the strength they have up front, we needed him to go the distance at defensive end,” said Mifflin coach Jeff Lang. “His play was strong and consistent all night long against a very good offense.”
Goodman was credited with four tackles and had several hurries as the Mustangs pressured quarterback Colin Payne out of the pocket, or to make hurried throws. His blocked punt resulted in a safety.
“Nate is workhorse for us,” said Lang. “He gets out there and grinds every day both on the field and in the weight room.”
Goodman was just as good on the offensive side, where he earned a 90 percent blocking grade, helping Singleton rush for 248 yards and the Mustangs to rush for 383 overall.
They led 30-0 in the second quarter.
Goodman is Mifflin’s second Body Zone Physical Therapy Defensive Player of the Week this season. Defensive back Eden Johnson was selected in Week 2.
It is also the second Player of the Week honor for Goodman this season. He was selected Lineman of the Week in Week 5 after a win over Episcopal Academy.
