Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week? It’s Nick Singleton, of course

Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week

Nick Singleton keeps reaching new heights.

After scoring six touchdowns for the first time and setting a personal-best rushing mark the Gov. Mifflin senior has been named Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week.

The Penn State recruit took the opening kickoff back for a score, then ran for five first-half touchdowns in a 49-26 rout of Episcopal Academy.

Singleton rushed for 289 yards on 18 carries, topping his career-high of 287, set in the season-opener against York High. It ranks as the second-most yards in program history, behind only Dustin Manz’s 352, set in 2006.

“Nick set the tone Friday night from the opening kick off where he returned it for an 83-yard TD,” said Mifflin coach Jeff Lang. “Every play he got the ball he ran hard and when he doesn’t get the ball, he blocks hard.”

He is the third player in program history to score six TDs in a game, following Wilson Fontanez in 2014 vs. Red Lion and Isaac Ruoss in 2017 vs. York High.

Singleton pushed his season total to 1,022 yards, making him the first player in Berks history to rush for 1,000 yards in four straight seasons.

He is averaging a staggering 13.1 yards per carry.

Singleton scored on runs of 6, 19, 19, 55 and 60 yards. He has 22 TDs in five games, and 94 in his career.

Singleton twice previously scored five touchdowns in game, both as a sophomore, against Reading High and against Muhlenberg.

This is the third time in five weeks Singleton has been selected Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week

He was also selected in Week 1, after a win over York High, and in Week 3, after the Mustangs won at Cocalico.
