Top players to watch in Berks II baseball


Top players in Division II of the Berks Baseball League

Riley Civiello, Conrad Weiser: All-Division pick as a sophomore. Led team with .306 batting average, 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored, second with .366 on-base percentage and .705 slugging. Top starter won three games, pitched 46 innings, and just 11 walks. Posted 3.04 ERA.

Paul Colombo, Twin Valley: First baseman led Raiders in batting as a sophomore at .326 and in slugging at .500. Had five doubles, .449 on-base percentage and drove in 10 runs. Had more walks (8) than strikeouts (7).

Jaydon Goebel, Twin Valley: Standout catcher named all-division after batting .320 with team-leading 17 runs scored and team-best .880 OPS. Drove in 11 runs. Stole nine bases. Had 143 total chances in 19 games without being charged an error. Committed to play at Penn College of Technology.

Jake Karnish, Fleetwood: Had 2.27 ERA as a junior, tops among Tigers starting pitchers. All-Division pick made nine appearances. Struck out 60 over 46 1/3 innings, finishing sixth in the league in strikeouts, fifth in the league in innings pitched. Picked up win in relief Tuesday in season-opener.

Ryan Moser, Fleetwood: Provided big arm out of the bullpen for Tigers as a junior, striking out 33 over 29 innings, spanning 10 appearances. Earned two saves. Posted team-best 1.21 ERA. Moves to starting rotation this season; got the nod in Tigers’ opener Tuesday against Oley Valley.

Eli Rhoads, Daniel Boone: Posted a 1.73 ERA as a junior, 10th-best in the league. Went 3-2 with a save in 10 appearances. Stuck out 28 over a team-leading 36 1/3 innings.

Owen Rhoads, Twin Valley: Went 4-2 with a 2.33 ERA over seven starts and 11 appearances as a sophomore. Struck out 40 over 39 innings, allowing 32 hits and a .209 batting average. All-Division pick batted .321 with team-leading 15 RBIs in 19 games. Led team with 14 stolen bases. Also plays shortstop and third base.

Dylan Schueler, Daniel Boone: Among league leaders in wins after going 5-2 as a junior, pitching mostly against Berks I competition. Posted 2.21 ERA over 31 2/3 innings with team-high 36 strikeouts.

Alex Snyder, Conrad Weiser: All-Division pick as a junior batted .289 and led team with .706 OPS and with 12 RBIs. Second with .373 on-base percentage.

Twin Valley’s Kannon Zdimal.

Aiden Soumas, Fleetwood: Outfielder led team in batting at .284 as a sophomore, with team-high 10 RBIs. Earned all-division honors. Opened season Tuesday with a single, double and triple in 10-5 win over Oley Valley.

Mason Walter, Daniel Boone: Named to Berks I all-division team after batting .319 with team-high 15 RBIs and 15 runs scored, second on team. Led team with .449 slugging percentage and seven doubles; had .814 OPS. Senior will see time at second base and shortstop.

Kannon Zdimal, Twin Valley: All-Division pick finished ninth in the league with a 1.55 ERA and tied for ninth with 50 strikeouts over team-leading 40 2/3 innings. Went 3-3, often lined up against the top teams in Division I. First baseman batted .296 with 11 runs scored and 14 RBIs, second on the team. Led team with seven doubles. Has multiple college offers from Division II and III programs.
