Exeter’s Anthony Caccese added to Pennsylvania’s Big 33 Classic roster
(This story has been updated to show additional roster changes.)
Exeter lineman Anthony Caccese has been added to the Pennsylvania roster for the 66th annual Big 33 Football Classic. The University of Delaware recruit was initially selected for the PSFCA’s Big School East-West game when rosters were announced last week.
Caccese will join Wilson’s Cam Jones on the Keystoners’ roster for the game on Sunday, May 28, at Bishop McDevitt High School. Pennsylvania will again play Maryland.
Jones and Caccese are the only players from the Lancaster-Lebanon League selected for the Big 33 game.
Caccese is the first position player in Exeter history selected for the game. The Eagles’ only other selection was placekicker Taylor Bertolet in 2010.
This is the first time Berks County has had two selections in the same year since 2015, when Jon Fox and Ike Schannauer of Wilson were tapped.
A spot on the roster opened when Michael Mincher of State College and Gabe Arena of Bishop McDevitt notified the PSFCA they could not participate in the game. Also added to the roster was offensive lineman Andrew Kocan of Canon-McMillan, who will play at Virginia Military Academy.
Caccese, a Class 5A All-State pick, was one of the anchors on the outstanding lines that helped Exeter reach back-to-back District 3 Class 5A championship games.
The 6-6, 280-pounder was a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 2 all-league and All-Berks pick at offensive tackle for team that averaged 226 yards per game, went unbeaten in Section 2 and set a school record with 12 wins.

He’s currently the leading scorer on Exeter’s basketball team, which is the No. 3 seed in the District 3 Class 5A Tournament.
Jones, a Holy Cross recruit, was named to the Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class 6A All-State team for the second straight year.
Two of Berks’ best candidates for the game, Wyomissing’s Jven Williams and Exeter’s Joey Schlaffer, are not eligible for the game. Each enrolled at Penn State in January.
Aiden Mack of Wyomissing, who’s now playing at the University of Richmond, represented Berks football last season. Gov. Mifflin’s Cam’Ron Stewart, now playing at Rutgers, was Pennsylvania’s MVP in the 2021 game.
Mike Farr of Schuylkill Haven will be the head coach for Pennsylvania.
The East-West all-star games will be played Sunday, May 21, at Bishop McDevitt High School. Kickoff for the East-West Small School game is noon; kickoff for the Big School game is 5.
The small school game includes players from schools in Class 1A, 2A, and 3A; the big school game includes players from schools in Class 4A, 5A and 6A.
