Record-setting Nick Singleton is Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week

Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week

They’re running out of footballs at Gov. Mifflin.

Nick Singleton seems to take one home after every game. He did it again Friday after earning a game ball by scoring five touchdowns and becoming Berks’ all-time leading rusher in a 56-0 victory at Cocalico.

He raised the Berks mark to 4,845 yards and has a lot of games left to extend it.

“Obviously it’s my line doing their job,” the humble Singleton said of his latest feat. “My receivers doing their job. The coaches making the right calls. I can’t do it without them.”

Singleton entered the night needing 87 yards to surpass Iggy Reynoso’s Berks record and it only took him six carries to get there.

Five of his 11 touches resulted in touchdowns. He scored on runs of 42, 14, 39 and 23 yards, and on a 14-yard pass from Delsin McNeil.

He extended the Berks record for career touchdowns to 85; he has reached the end zone 13 times in three his.

With a 39-yard TD sprint in the second quarter Singleton passed Reynoso for No. 1 on the all-time list.

Singleton committed to Penn State earlier this summer after a pitched recruiting battle that included Ohio State, Notre Dame, Alabama, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.

“I’m definitely going to tell people I played with the best running back in the nation,” said Mifflin guard Jose Landrom. “It’s just insane to be part of this. It’s very humbling, for sure.”

Singleton was named the season’s inaugural Offensive Player of the Week after scoring five TDs and rushing for 287 yards in the season-opener at York High.
