Two-time pick Jven Williams among 6 Berks selections on 3A All-State team
There’s little debate that Jven Williams is among the greatest players to wear a Wyomissing Spartans uniform. Thursday the 6-5, 290-pound lineman added yet another special honor, earning a second straight selection to the Pennsylvania Football Writers Class 3A All-State team.
The Penn State-bound offensive lineman is one of a handful of Spartans to earn back-to-back honors, joining a list that includes Alex Anzalone and Nolan McCready.
Williams is among four Wyomissing players and six Berks players selected for the team.
Joining him are teammates Drew Eisenhower, at defensive back, and linebackers Ryker Jones and Matt Kramer; Berks Catholic defensive back Josiah Jordan; and Schuylkill Valley running back Dominic Giuffre.
Quarterback Jeff Hoenstine of PIAA semifinalist Central is Player of the Year; Matt Humbert of PIAA Class 3A champ Belle Vernon is Coach of the Year.
All-State teams in Class 4A, 5A and 6A will be announced Friday.
Danville, which fell to Wyomissing 21-19 in a state quarterfinal, has five All-State selections, more than any other school. Wyomissing, Central and Loyalsock each have four. State finalist Neumann-Goretti, which ended Wyomissing’s season 20-17 in the state semifinals, has two selections.
Williams has earned just about every honor out there. He was named Outstanding Lineman and Offensive Lineman in Section 4 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League and twice has been named Diamond Credit Union Lineman of the Year by MikeDragoSports.com. He started on the Spartans’ last two District 3 Class 3A championship teams and also earned a pair of PIAA gold medals, winning the discus and shot put last spring.

He’ll play in the All-American Bowl Jan. 7 in San Antonio, then head to Penn State where he’ll begin classes next month. He’ll be the highest-ranked recruit in a power-packed Nittany Lions recruiting class.
Eisenhower, a senior and three-year starter, was one of the leaders of a Wyomissing defense ranked No. 1 in 37-team Lancaster-Lebanon League in total defense and scoring defense. He had a team-high four interceptions, returning one for touchdown.
Jones, a junior, led the Spartans with 84 tackles — 35 more than anyone else on the league’s top defense. He’s a devastating hitter who had three sacks. He also averaged 41.0 yards on punts and 7.8 yards per carry.
Kramer was Linebacker of the Year in Section 4 of Lancaster-Lebanon League after making 37 tackles with a pair of sacks. He also rushed for 1,138 yards and scored 25 TDs.
Jordan was Defensive Back of the Year in Section 4 and an all-league running back. He was the Saints’ top coverage corner and led the team with five interceptions. He rushed for 1,225 yards, scored 22 TDs and averaged 20.2 on punt returns. He is Berks Catholic’s first All-State pick since 2018.
Giuffre, a junior, rushed for a program-record 302 yards vs. Hamburg in the Frost Bowl and finished with 1,491 yards and 29 TDs. He scored six touchdowns vs. undefeated Section 5 champ Lancaster Catholic. He is the Panthers’ first All-State pick since defensive lineman Cody Minnich in 2004.
The only other selection from the Lancaster-Lebanon League is Lancaster Catholic wide receiver Jaevon Parker.
Williams is Wyomissing’s first repeat pick since defensive back De’Shaun Wilson in 2016 and 2017.
Anzalone, who went on to play at the University of Florida and now plays for the Detroit Lions, was a repeat pick at linebacker in 2011 and 2012. Andy Taylor was a two-time pick, in 2002-03. McCready, who went on to earn a starting spot at Penn State as a walk-on, was an All-State pick in 2000 and 2001.
Wyomissing had seven All-State picks in each of the past two seasons, which it reached the PIAA title game.
