A two-time All-State and three-time All-Berks selection . . . All-Berks selections from each of the county finalists . . . and a talented sophomore class return to highlight Berks girls basketball for the 2022-23 season, which tips Friday.

Wyomissing looms as the favorite in Berks III, with all of its starters returning from a team that went 13-10 and finished second; Schuylkill Valley hopes to defend its division title.

Here are the Players to Watch in Berks III (listed in alphabetical order):

Lexi Loeb, senior, Wyomissing:  All-Division honorable mention selection last season after averaging 6.7 points and drilling 42 3-pointers, third-most in the league.

Alexis Hardy, sophomore, Wyomissing: Lightning-quick all-division honorable mention guard scored 7.4 points per game as a freshman.

Alexis Hess, senior, Fleetwood: Kansas State commit is a three-time All-Berks selection who averaged 19 points per game and hit 40 3’s last season. Named to Class 5A All-State team. Enters final season with 1,034 points. Ready to cap one of the best careers in Berks County girls basketball history.

Anabel Kennedy, senior, Hamburg: Great passer runs the offense for the Hawks. Also hit 35 from beyond the arc last year. Led team at the foul line, shooting 81.2 percent. Scoring season-high 21 points against Berks IV champ Brandywine Heights.

Annie McCaffrey, junior, Wyomissing: All-around spark plug makes plays on both sides of the ball. One of four Spartans to average five or more points last season, each of whom return. Recorded three double-digit scoring games. Was All-Berks pick in soccer.

Amaya Stewart, sophomore, Wyomissing: 6-1 inside presence is already an all-division pick after averaging team-leading 10.5 points as a freshman; still has tons of room for growth. Getting Division I looks.

Juliana Stichter, junior, Schuylkill Valley: Stepping into starting role after hitting 17 3-pointers and averaging 4.0 points per game last season. Played all 24 games off the bench for the Berks III champs.

Natane White, junior, Schuylkill Valley: All-Division guard runs offense for Panthers, who won 20 games last year on wayu to Berks III title. Hit team-leading 27 3-pointers. Averaged 7.2 points per game, third on the team.
