Schuylkill Valley drops to 0-2 with loss to Elco

Quarterback Cole Thomas rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns as Elco topped Schuylkill Valley 21-6 in a non-league game Friday at Leesport.

The Panthers trailed just 7-6 heading into the final quarter.

Drew Campbell scored the Panthers only TD, on a 6-yard run. He finished with 56 rushing yards on 10 carries and completed 11-of-24 passes.

Sophomore Colby Crills had six receptions for Schuylkill Valley, which fell to 0-2.

The meeting was the first between the two schools.

The game served as the season-opener for the Raiders, who were idle last week after scheduled opponent Susquenita had to postpone due to COVID issues.

Thomas, in his first start, rushed for 122 yards on 16 carries; he scored on runs of 5 and 4 yards.

The win was the 14th straight for Elco in regular season play.

The Panthers play at Pottsgrove next Friday.
