Five Fast Football Facts for Week 9

1

Exeter is 8-0 for the first time since 2015, when the Eagles recorded their only 10-0 season.

They recorded perfect seasons in 1967 and 1970, going 9-0 each year; there were no district playoffs in that era of high school football.

With an extended playoff run Exeter can break the program record of 11 wins, set in 2015. The Eagles went 11-2 that season.

Wyomissing’s 49-10 win over Conrad Weiser last week was the 345th victory of Bob Wolfrum’s career, pushing him into seventh place in Pennsylvania high school football history.

Wolfrum ranks No. 2 among active coaches; the only one ahead of him is Southern Columbia’s Jim Roth, with 474 wins.

Only two other active coaches have 300 wins: Strath Haven’s Kevin Clancy (340) and Clearfield’s Tim Janocko (305).

If Twin Valley closes out the season with wins over Daniel Boone and Hatboro-Horsham, it will finish with a winning record in back-to-back seasons for the first time in the program’s 27 seasons.

The Raiders had just two winning seasons before last year: 2004 and 2007.

The Raiders made their first district playoff appearance last season and are well-positioned for a second straight.

If Schuylkill Valley (6-2) finishes with wins over Annville-Cleona and Lancaster Catholic it will match the program record of eight wins, set in 2003 and matched in 2012.

The Panthers’ best regular season came in 2003, when they finished 8-2.

With a berth in the District 3 Class 3A Tournament on the periphery, the Panthers can break the program record for wins with a postseason victory.
