10 Questions with Fleetwood center Noah Yourkawitch, presented by UECU

Noah Yourkawitch

Senior center

Q: If you invented a time machine, would you go back in time, or ahead?

I would have to go into the future. I feel if I went into the past it could mess up the current timeline. I would go like 100 years into the future to see my grandchildren and what the world would be like.

Q: Which of your teammates makes you laugh the most at practice?

Ah man, we’ve got a bunch of goofs on our squad, but my man Trey Wamsher makes me laugh the most. He goes by ‘Doctor Drip’ and every word out of his mouth is just hilarious. He’s always a good laugh even if we’re all in a bad mood.

Q: If you could ask any NFL player a question, who would you talk talk to and what would you want to know?

I would ask Jason Kelce how he grows such a nice beard. I would love to chop it up, learn techniques, and understand how he became so dominant as a center in the league.

Q: Which teammate would you least like to go head-to-head against in a game?

I would have to say it’s pretty even between Hunter Svoboda and Hunter Leister. Both Hunters and I trained together all offseason to perfect our craft and add moves to our bag. We also all know each other’s tendencies, so I think it would be a long gritty game between any of us.

Q: Who was your favorite Fleetwood football player growing up?

The Emge twins (Josh and Sam). They unfortunately left (to play at Manheim Township) before I got to high school but they were really fun to watch. They were really explosive and made me excited for high school ball.

Q: Who’s the best player you have ever faced in a game?

I’ve had some good match-ups but honestly not anybody I’ve felt overpowered by. I would have to say last year’s Schuylkill Valley game was my hardest match-up. I don’t even know the kid’s name but it was the grittiest and toughest game I’ve had yet. It wasn’t that he was necessarily amazing but we were just two guys battling it out every single play. It definitely was a defining moment for me as a player.

Q: What’s your nickname, and how did you get it?

I love this one, because funny enough I have mine tattooed on me! My nickname “Rolls Royce” came from my one buddy when we were just messing around and he jumped on my back and said: “I drive Rolls Royce into battle!” And it just kind of stuck from there.

Q: Which of the new teams on your schedule in Section 3 are you most anxious to play this season?

Honestly, I’m anxious to play all of them because we as a team truly feel like every game is gonna be a battle. We have some good opponents in the near future but we take every week one game at a time.

Q: What’s a successful season for the Fleetwood Tigers?

We all have the goal to win our section. I truly believe we have the talent and ability to do so, so doing that would be amazing. We’re also chasing a playoff win but the goal at hand is winning our section.

Q: What did it mean to you, and to the program, to end last season with a win in the Eastern Conference championship game?

It felt amazing to win that game because it solidified all the work we put in as a team last year. It was a great step for our program that we will work to build off of for seasons to come, especially this season.
