Former basketball standouts Pete Mullenberg, Tony Bonanno and Brian D’Amico highlight the ninth class of the Reading High Hall of Fame, which includes nine members.
The class will be introduced during halftime of the Red Knights’ Sept. 16 football game against Wilson at Shirk Stadium.
In addition, the inductees will be celebrated during the Reading High Athletic Hall of Fame Golf Tournament earlier in the day at Heidelberg Country Club.
Proceeds from the golf tournament provide scholarships for Reading High graduates.
The class will be formally inducted Saturday, Sept. 17, during a banquet at Kraras Banquet Hall. Tickets are $50 for adults and $30 for students.

Tony Bonanno
Bonanno, a 1975 grad, was recognized with Jack Flowers Memorial Award as Berks County’s outstanding senior basketball player by the Press Club of Reading.

Brian D’Amico
D’Amico, a 1986, grad was a standout center for the Red Knights who went on to play at the University of South Carolina and North Carolina State. He scored 1,359 points, fourth all-time in program history at the time.

Al Futrick
Futrick, a 1992, graduate, excelled as a quarterback and was named Berks Offensive Player of the Year as a senior after leading the Lancaster-Lebanon League and Berks in nearly every passing category.

He was an all-league and All-Berks pick and a Big School All-State honorable mention selection.
Tashema Hightower
Hightower, a 1998, grad earned the Jack Flowers Memorial Award as outstanding Berks girls basketball player. She scored 1,536 points, second-most in program history.

Jeff Law
Jeff Law, a 1973 grad, was a standout wrestler at 145 pounds, earning a District 3 Section championship. He won the Phillipsburg Christmas Tournament, was District 3 runner-up, Southeastern Region runner-up and finished third at the state tournament. He went 24-3 as a senior.

Pete Mullenberg
Mullenberg, a 1977 grad, played basketball for three seasons, anchoring one of the best frontlines in school history, alongside Steve Rossignoli and Neil Christel. Mullenberg was instrumental in leading the team to finish third in the state and to a thrilling triple-overtime win against Steelton-Highspire for the District 3 championship.

Bob Ruoff
Ruoff, a 1947 grad, played on a Central Penn League basketball championship teame. He won two District 3 doubles tennis tournaments and later served as chairman of PIAA District 1.

Hershey Walton
Walton, a 2010 grad, was an outstanding offensive and defensive lineman and a member of the District 3 championship basketball team. He holds the school record in the discus at 135-1 and in the shot put at 45-8.5.

Ron Zeiber
Zeiber, a 1961 grad, excelled in three sports. In 1959 he named MVP of the baseball team. In 1961 he was selected to the All-Central Penn Conference football second team as a defensive end. In 1960 and 1961 he was selected to the All-Central Penn Conference second team as a point guard after leading the Red Knights to Central Penn and District 3 Championships.
